YP-59A
Capt Frederick M Trapnell became the first U.S Navy aviator to fly a jet aircraft when he made a flight in the XP59-A at Muroc on April 21, 1943. That November the U.S. Navy received it's first jet airplanes when two YP-59A's were shipped to the Naval Airstation at Patuxent River.
