The Airfield of Dreams began producing quality add on aircraft with the advent of Bruce Artwick's "Flight Shop" and Windows 95. Flight Shop was the first serious attempt at marketing a design tool aimed at the then small, but growing MS flight simulator community. The Airfield of Dreams was the first web site dedicated to historical and vintage aircraft and was active up until the horrendous events of September 11, 2001, when it went off line. With the release of Flight Simulator 2002 and 2004 and the introduction of Discreet Software’s “Gmax”, the development process has been returned to the artist; it has moved away from the endless battle of balancing software development against the time consuming act of creation. This, and Microsoft’s more active participation in the aftermarket development process were the primary motivating factors in determining that The Airfield of Dreams would be reborn. Please accept my personal invitation to you, to continue to relive the adventure of flight at “The Airfield of Dreams”. Fred Wohosky |
